Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. Then, in 1992 she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She was part of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a range of noteworthy stories including weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently with the President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
